it seems i'm moving past the "thinking about new things for the etsy shop" phase into the "actually making things for the etsy shop" phase. i had the idea for necklaces with beads strung in the order of the fibonacci sequence ages ago, and i've finally gotten around to making some. i like the asymmetry of the beads and the secret nerdiness of the design. they aren't in the shop yet, but they'll be there over the next few days.
i did a little research on the fibonacci sequence, and it turns out that it doesn't just show up all over the place in nature, it also shows up lots in pop culture. there's a black star song that features the sequence, as does a tool song. interestingly, while the nautilus shell is probably everyone's go-to example of the sequence in nature, the shell's measurements fall just a bit short. oops.
- materials: beading thread, larger beads, seed beads, gold findings
- cost: $0 -- all materials were already in my sizeable beading stash
